The Zendu Plant (Tagetes erecta or Tagetes patula), commonly known as Marigold, is a popular flowering plant grown for its bright, attractive blooms and easy maintenance. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, Zendu is widely cultivated in India for decorative, religious, and commercial purposes. Its vibrant orange, yellow, and golden flowers symbolize purity and positivity and are commonly used in garlands, worship, and festivals. Zendu plants grow well in warm, sunny climates, with an ideal temperature range of 20°C to 30°C. They prefer well-drained loamy or sandy soil enriched with organic compost. The plant requires full sunlight for at least 6 hours daily and moderate watering — overwatering can lead to root rot. Seeds are usually sown directly in the soil or in nursery beds and transplanted after 3–4 weeks. The plants start flowering within 45–60 days of sowing and continue blooming for several months with proper care. Apart from their ornamental value, marigolds help repel pests naturally and are often planted alongside vegetables as companion plants. Easy to grow and visually stunning, the Zendu plant is ideal for gardens, pots, and decorative landscapes, adding color and fragrance throughout the year.
